Established: 2005Business Type: Performing Arts & TheaterKnown For: Empowering and celebrating young artists, nurturing creativity and fostering lasting friendships through our plays, classes, residencies, and camps in an environment of care, equity, challenge, and joy.
Mudlark is a theater where young people are valued as genuine artists and supported on every step of their artistic and personal journeys. Our core values of joy, challenge, equity, and care have made Mudlark a beloved part of Evanston’s arts community for over 20 years, fostering inclusivity and championing creative expression.
At the heart of our mission is our unconditional scholarship program, the only one of its kind in Evanston’s youth performing arts landscape. Unlike other programs that may offer limited or conditional financial aid, our scholarships have been in place since our founding in 2005, ensuring that every child, regardless of financial background, can participate fully without stigma or barriers.
This long-standing commitment to access allows young artists from diverse backgrounds to come together, create meaningful work, and forge deep connections across schools and neighborhoods. We remain steadfast in our promise to young artists, their families, and our community to safeguard a space where all voices are valued, all stories are heard, and all young people have the opportunity to grow through theater.
Over the last 21 years, Mudlark has staged over 150 original plays and adaptations and engaged with each and every Evanston public elementary and middle schools as well private institutions in our area.
