Prairie Moon

Established: 2002 Business Type: Restaurant Known For: Menu highlights include the best burger in Evanston, authentic New Orleans fare, and fresh coastal seafood and raw bar.

After opening and running restaurants in Evanston that included concepts of seafood, steakhouse, Irish pub, and barbecue, Rob opened Prairie Moon in 2002 to bring his vast experience in cuisines from culinary capitals of the USA to Evanston.

Prairie Moon is a locally owned Evanston favorite serving scratch-made American regional cuisine since 2002. Located in downtown Evanston near Northwestern University, our menu brings together bold flavors from across the United States—paired with a lively bar, rotating specials, and a warm, welcoming atmosphere.

Born and raised in Evanston, Rob Strom has been an integral part of the restaurant landscape since 1985. Starting with Davis Street Fish Market, Rob continued on to help open Tommy Nevin’s Pub, Merle’s BBQ, and Pete Miller’s Steakhouse. He left that restaurant group to serve the community he loves with his owon restaurant, Prairie Moon. The most meaningful part of owning a restaurant in his home city is seeing all the wonderful regulars of Prairie Moon and showing visitors a taste of Evanston character and hospitality.
